I Need Alone Time

I have been admiring the lifestyle of an artist who stays in her own studio to craft her art. I am interested in the life of professors or Ph.D. students who lock themselves up in their lab or their faculty room to focus on research. I would like to have the life of the writers or novelists — they are being in their own world to create something bigger through writing.

I have never felt alone when I enjoy my own company — especially if I am creating something

The life of a content creator is a bit different but I heard so many times from their vlogs how lonely it is to be on your own journey to create your own craft and have to sacrifice some parts of their social life because they are focused on creating.

Unpopular opinion probably, but I sometimes wish we can go back to those times when we have limited access to the internet. Like those times, we cannot do anything online without our big PC sitting in our living room. I wish sometimes that we are in the lockdown period again so that there is no guilt of not wanting to meet people.

I love my friends, I love my community. But now, I want to save my energy for my own as I have a few personal goals that I want to achieve by end of the year — to be able to write every day, self-publish my book and learn new skills. The time just goes by really fast even though I wake up 4–6 am every morning to write. I end up being knocked off in bed by 7 pm. I just realized how much energy I use in my daily writing practices, before my 9–6 job. I barely get into the routine of learning new things yet.

Once I set this goal for myself, I value my time as something more precious than any wealth and I could not trade this for any type of distraction for now.

After being away from social media, I also realized how my brain is wired to be addicted to distractions that my phone and app give me. Obviously, it is way easier to scroll down all the interesting content being shown to you, compared to writing something using your brain what to write during your commute.

Recently, I have invested in buying an e-ink note-taking device, Supernote which just came in yesterday. I bought the A6X which is 7.8 inches in size. I prefer smaller ones so it is easier to carry them around. Still in the learning period of how to use this device but I freaking love how all the things I write can be digitalized without all the noise that a normal tablet can have — apps, notifications, screen time, etc.

I love you all. I am just working on something very important and close to my heart. So I need some alone time to complete them on time. Focused attention and quality time for creation are all I need for now.
